Dr. Monica List grew up just north of Newmarket on a small hobby farm in the town of Queensville. After graduating high school, she received an Honours Bachelor of Science degree from Queen's University. From there she moved to Memphis Tennessee to attend the Southern College of Optometry where she received an academic scholarship.
Dr. List spent time as a student at a hospital in Bethel Alaska from where she traveled to small native communities in rural Alaska. She also spent a work term alongside an ophthalmologist in Lynchburg Virginia. Dr. List lived and practiced optometry in New York State for two years after graduation before returning to Canada where she has been practicing for the past 9 years.
Monica is a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists, the Canadian Optometric Association, the Society of Eyecare Professionals and the Ocular Nutrition Society. She is accredited to practice therapeutic optometry in both the United States and in Canada.
Dr. List is a faculty member at Georgian College where she teaches ocular science classes in the opticianry program. She is also working towards a fellowship in ocular nutrition. Dr. List has a special interest in low vision and performs low vision evaluations and fits patients with low vision devices in-office.
In Dr. List's spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Dr. Jake List, and her three children. Together they like to hike, camp, ski and bike.
